Glasses

It's happened... I'm old. Apparently, I need bifocals because I'm near-sighted AND far-sighted... and I'm not yet 40. I guess my body is just giving up. First gluten, now this. What's next, lactose? Ha. I won't tell you how much these frames were because when I got home, I immediately regretted making the purchase, so I'm going to return them for a refund and buy cheaper ones.

Ruby stuff

I brought Ruby to the vet again. She stopped drooling, finally, but she has a head tilt and is walking in circles to the right. The vet did some blood work and everything came back normal. He thinks she has vestibular disease, which he said isn't a big deal and should improve in a week. He gave me some meds to give her over the next three weeks, so hopefully she'll get better. Otherwise, he's going to see about scheduling an MRI to check for a brain tumor which is fucking expensive and we'll have to see if that's something we can afford.

Girls Night Out

Zac's job was part of a fashion show, so his co-worker, Leah, invited me along in place of Zac. I bought a dress and some shoes, then met up with her at the local college. It was a little awkward since I'd never met Leah before, but also kinda fun. I'd always wanted to attend a fashion show, like in Sex & the City. I was mostly annoyed that I was the only person wearing a mask at an indoor event... Granted, I've had my vaccine and all, but the majority of Mississippi hasn't and it's just bothersome how the people behave. I got lucky with food options, thankfully, but mostly by scraping pimento and cheese off croissants since I can't have the bread. I was going to have the potato salad, but whoever made it, sprinkled bacon in it. Anyway, Leah's pretty cool. She's taller than me, which is crazy because I'm usually taller than my friends. We're planning to hang out with her sometime for a game night.

Dentist

The kids had their dental appointment today. Only Jac had a cavity, but it's small and he'll go back in a few weeks to get it fixed. Both boys did great, even Cole cooperated this time.

Louisiana Trip

Friday night, we headed to Sean's. We made it just in time to get the kids to bed and had a nice evening just us adults hanging out. I brought my ukulele and sketch book since I'm trying to focus on my hobbies as of lately.
Saturday was kinda lazy, but somewhat busy. We were supposed to hang out with Katie Saturday afternoon, but we didn't hear from her most of the day. So Saturday evening we decided to just drive out that way since that was the original plan, but after we were across the lake, she said it wasn't a good time and she'd make plans for Sunday. So, we turned around and headed back toward Sean's (and picked up some poboys).
Sean was off Sunday, so we made plans to hang out with him and meet his new girlfriend, Harley. Zac and Sean picked up some crawfish and I decided to go meet up with Katie. The plans bounced around too much, so she finally met me over at Sean's. We visited for a little while, somewhat awkwardly because the day was a frazzle, but it was nice to see her. After she left, Kyle came over with his girlfriend, Michelle.
We all hung out and got a little drunk. Luckily, we've got good kids who understand that sometimes adults drink for fun (and responsibly), and they make fun of us the next day.
Zac was hungover Monday, but I'm glad Jessie moved over by Sean so we didn't have to drive far to see her. We spent the day with her before heading back home. She fixed me a mimosa, which was much needed after having to help clean her stairs since Cole decided to use his dirty diaper as a sled and leave a trail on their carpet. Jessie made us some homemade pizza (gluten free, too!) and we played with all the instruments and cats. Once Grahamm had to leave to jump out of a plane, we decided to head back home. It was a bananas trip, but so fun to see everyone. Next time, I think we'll try to plan a little better and not cram everybody in at once.

Girl's Day

I took Leah on an outing today. She's been restless and wanted to get out of the house, so we had a girly day of running errands. We went to Starbucks, then Target and Petsmart. She wants a parakeet so bad, but I told her we'd wait since we've got the cats. It was a fun day, just the two of us.

Second Dose

Zac and I got our second vaccine dose this morning. My arm is so sore.

Park & Package

I ordered the kids some stuff off Amazon last week with some of their Christmas money. The big kids picked Hollow Knight plushes and Elias just wanted a snake like Leah's. As soon as I ordered the package, Elias sat by the window to wait. I told him it'll take a while, but every day he'd wait for the postman to come by and was disappointed in no package. Jac and Leah already got their plushes yesterday. Today, the package was due. He woke up, announced loudly that "Today is the day!" and sat by the window. Zac and I decided to pass the time with Cole and him, so we took a walk through the park. The big two stayed home so they could tidy up. We came across a goose egg, something I've never seen before. I'm not sure if it was a dud or if someone took it from the nest. It sucks, but hopefully there are others that are safe. It would be cool to see baby geese or even ducklings this year. When we got home, the box was waiting for him. He was so excited. All for a snake.

Walk & Date

Zac and I brought the kids on a walk, then spent the evening together at the outlets to window shop and catch some Pokemon on the Pokemon Go app because we're addicted nerds. It was nice getting out for a little while. We're trying to figure out how to do fun stuff with the kids but also get time with just each other. Little outings have been nice moments.

Easter 2021

The Easter bunny arrived!

Instead of dyeing boiled eggs this year (and stinking up the kitchen with vinegar), I decided to get the kids some egg-shaped cookies to decorate. It was a hit, so it looks like we've got a new tradition.
