Micro-update: Teeth, lots of pics

Elias has two tiny teeth on his bottom jaw. They're cute and so sharp. He hasn't bitten me while nursing yet, but he'll bite my finger or his spoon or anything else.

Meanwhile, Jac had a tooth pulled. He was supposed to get a crown, but as the decay was on a baby tooth and too close to the nerve, the dentist decided to pull it.

Leah has two wiggly teeth, so there are just teeth coming and going this year.

And Toby needs to have one of his teeth pulled. It's far in the back, but doesn't seem to be bothering him yet.

Outside

I've been pushing the kids to be outside more. The birds have been pooping all over the swingset, so the kids have been less-than-enthused to play in the  yard. I made up a game for them called Hungry Lion, so one will be the lion while the other is a zebra and the lion chases the zebra until it's caught. Game over. Then they switch.

Now that Zac has a fixed schedule, I know when he'll be gone and when he'll be home, so we can plan to do things together. I started cooking again, something I gave up on as Zac is much better at cooking than I am, as well as finding things to do with the kids. We currently live near the reservoir so Zac and I brought the kids to sit by the water and watch people fish. I'm really wanting to get some fishing rods so we can catch our own fish.

The other day, I decided to take the kids to the park since they've been doing so well with their chores. When Jac was little, I always took him to the park. After Leah came along, we still went, though not as often. Now that Elias is here, we haven't really been much. However, he loves swinging, so we're going to make it a regular thing.

Uku-Leah

Zac took us to the music store to look at some instruments. He's been wanting some new bass strings and I like touching the ukuleles and tuning them when they sound like nightmares.

Leah wanted every single thing she saw.

L: OOH, drums! Can I have these?
A: Where are we going to put drums?
L: I dunno. What about just a drumstick?
A: What?
L: Wow, what's this?
A: Bongos.
L: I love bongos, Can we get these? Or just this little one?
A: Maybe next time.
L: Can I have this piano? We could put it in the den!
A: OMG.
L. What about a guitar?
A: Maybe, if we can find one small enough for you.
L: WHAT. ARE. THESE.
A: Ukuleles.
L: I need the blue one. NEEEEEED IT.

I figured I'd teach her to play it, even though she's a lefty. I tuned it upside down and she sits in front of me to mirror my moves. So far, she's learned chords C, A, and G and she's got the strum down. I may have also bought myself a new, much tinier ukulele.

Micro-post: Food

We had breakfast for dinner. My favorite. Earlier this week, I pulled out my recipe box, containing the clip-outs from old Betty Crocker calendars and the kids begged for the brownie and fruit kabobs (HERE). I managed (with Zac's help) to whip them up with baby in tow, as he's very eager to get into mischief.

Micro-post: Applebees

Mom took us out to eat tonight after church. We haven't been to Applebee's since Elias was born, so it was a nice treat. I remember making a comment that the wonton tacos would put me in labor (which they did), and they were just as delicious this time around.

Rainy Day

It was raining all.day.long, so I decided to make some chili from scratch (HERE). It turned out blog-worthy. You're welcome. Also, the kids thought it was the best thing ever, so it's definitely something I'm adding to our menu.

Lazy Sunday

It's one of those Sundays where lazy beats productive. We went to the mall to walk around a bit, then came home so Zac could grill hot dogs.

Allergies & Elias, 8 months

No joke, through the months of March, April, and May, I live in a fog of sinus issues and antihistamines. I've considered going outside to get fresh air, but with all the wildflowers and pollen, I'm almost positive I'll die. Zac hasn't had a chance to mow the grass, so we're being taken over by shrubbery. Jac and Leah have been enjoying the "jungle", and sometimes I'll bring Elias outside to sit in his baby swing. Then, after a while, the allergens take over.

I don't think I posted about it, but Zac is officially a graphic designer! He was offered the job about a week ago. We are so excited. Now, we're on the prowl for our own home. We're hoping to get moved in about three months.

My youngest is eight months old! He pulls himself up to standing, hates peaches, and loves bath time. He's a fast crawler and enjoys being outside or running errands, as long as he's not in the car seat. Instead, he prefers to ride in the shopping cart or stroller. I've had to change how I wear him in the wrap, wearing him on my hip instead of in front. He's still breastfeeding and doesn't sleep through the night yet. He likes apple juice and sometimes says "mama" or "dedededede". Still no teeth, yet. He's gnawing on everything.
