Christmas 2009

Happy Holidays!

Last night, Zac took a few pictures of the kiddos. We stayed up late so everyone slept in this morning.

It's been a relaxing day. The kids opened their gifts and have been so good and content.

Christina invited us to go to her house to hang out, so we got dressed and drove to the city. We played Mario Kart on the Wii and ate dinner with them. Jac chased their little dogs around and Leah was laughing at them.

We brought the kids to Mawmaw's to open gifts and have dinner.

Pre-Christmas

My parents have been here since yesterday. They brought some early Christmas gifts for the kids.

Today, I must've gone to Walmart about a thousand times. Mom helped cook with me and Dad helped me make fudge. My pralines are not so good. It's been nice, though. I love these holidays.

Kiddos

These babies have been so sweet today. Nobody whining or fussing, just smiles all day. This is the best part of being Mama. I love these critters so much.

Double Date

Marie offered to babysit the kids, so Zac and I went on a double date with Sean and Genevieve. We went to Casa De Garcias and met Sean and Zac's friend, Robbie. Sean convinced us to see A Christmas Carol. I really liked the animation.

Zac's Birthday

I baked Zac a birthday cake yesterday. Jac picked out the frosting. I was going to use my Betty Crocker decorating kit (finally), but the cake broke as I was trying to layer it. Last minute, I decided to use Jac's toy dinosaurs and create an earthquake cake. I think it turned out pretty rad.

Tonight we went to the movies to see Couple's Retreat. It was so funny! I haven't really seen any movies lately that I thought were genuinely funny. Most have just been cheesy.

Friend Visits

Katie and Olga came to visit. It was so nice hanging out. I haven't seen them in such a long time. Jac is just smitten with Alina. And Leah didn't poop on anybody this time!

J&Q Wedding

Yesterday, I picked Jena up and met her mom and Amanda at the nail salon. It was my first experience in the popular land of Strange and Unusual...

To sum it up: No, salon lady, I would not like a pedicure. Your blank stare is unacceptable. Please stop showing me where the ladies' room is. That is not what I asked.

While my nails were being painted:
Asian lady says: "Your baby, she look Asian. She Asian baby?"
Me: "No ma'am, she's Mexican, actually."
Asian lady: "Noooo I see her before. She Asian! She has Asian eyes."
Me: "No ma'am. This is the first time I've been in here."
Asian lady: "She your baby? I see her before. She Asian."
Me (politely, but through gritted teeth): "No, she's actually MY baby. She's Mexican, not Asian. and no, you haven't seen her before."
Asian lady: Yes I see her before. She come in all the time."

I put the conversation on Facebook and Patty said, "I dunno, she sounds pretty certain that she's seen your Asian baby before. Are you sure you're not the one mistaken?" Ha!

The highlight of the day: I met Jenny in person! I've been DYING to meet her in person since we started talking so long ago. She's so amazing and witty. We both said it felt like we were meeting a celebrity for the first time!

Best Friends.

Today I met up with Jena at her condo and we rode with Amanda, Brenda and Dana to the hair/makeup salon. I got my hair drowned in hairspray and hair gel styled, and got my makeup plastered layer after layer on my face applied. I don't know how women do this on a daily basis.

Once all of us ladies were purtied up real nice, we went to Patton's. TMI moment just for you: all of us but Dana are bleeding at the same time. Tampon party! Okay, enough of that mess (ha, get it?)

We did the wedding thing, which was nice. Jena was a lovely bride. She and I danced together to Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back.

I'm missing Jenny something awful. I even cried in the car on the way home. I wish we lived closer together. She took this pic of our family for me.

26

Jenny sent me probably the most awesome message ever:

"Happy Birthday to a rad n bodacious gal!
She's, like, a totally terrific pal!

She has style, she has flair,
she's da' bomb, i do declare..
& let's not forget her rockin hair;
She's got awesomeness to spare!

She's loyal and she's true
she'll listen when you're blue
she likes the boardgame 'clue'
and wants another tattoo!

She hearts godiva and WOW,
She is so the cat's meow..
I get to meet her real soon
but i want to meet her now! :)

She's another year older today!
and deserves a birthday soiree!
She's prettier than a flower bouquet;
and enjoys a good chinese buffet.

So have a blast and sit back
eat a nomilicious snack,
soak up this beautiful day
with Leah, Jac and Zac!"

I think I love her.

Sean kept the kids while Zac and I went to Jena and Quinn's rehearsal dinner. I really liked the food, or at least the appetizers. Some sort of crawfish pie-pocket and lots of Kahlua (my new favorite drink). I got a little drunk I think. Afterwards, we had to go to Winn Dixi for formula and when we got home, Sean had baked a cake for my birthday! A yummy red velvet cake, topped with 9 trick candles.

Halloween 2009

Happy Halloween!

I had a busy day baking while Sean cooked some awesome chicken cacciatore. There were multiple trips to Walmart to purchase overlooked ingredients. Zac and I met up with Quinn and Jena and took the kids Trick-or-Treating through Quinn's parents' neighborhood. Jac has so much candy! I'm going to bring some to work tomorrow. Leah fell asleep on our walk, all cozy in her blanket. Jac fell in a puddle, but didn't even cry. We went to Mawmaw's and I gave her a batch of my pumpkin spice bars. I even carved my first pumpkin!

E.R. for Jac

My parents are visiting, which came in handy since we had to take Jac to the emergency room tonight. I usually keep Leah's tummy-time blanket in the den on the floor. Jac slipped on it, mostly intentionally because he thought it was funny. The third time he slipped, he landed on his face. I picked him up to keep him from crying and blood was coming out of his nose and mouth. His nose started swelling, so we left Leah with my freaked-out parents and headed for the E.R.

Luckily, the wait wasn't very long. He didn't have any broken bones (thankfully!), but the cartilage is bruised and there might be a cut on the inside which is causing the bleeding. He was given an antibiotic to prevent infection and some nose spray and we were discharged. The things kids do for fun...

Kiddo Pictures

It's been a while since I updated. Just thought I'd post something.

I'm so lucky to have these kids.

We took the kids to the pumpkin patch today! I'm so obsessed with Halloween.

3rd Anniversary

Mom hates my hair... oh well. She and Dad watched the kiddos for a little while so Zac and I could go on an anniversary date of Outback and Zombieland. Three years and counting!

Hair Dye

Quinn invited me over to see his and Jena's new condo. It's actually a really cute place, hidden behind large stalks of bamboo. During my outing, I looked for a costume at Walmart, picked up my check from the Shop, then came home and colored my hair. I love that my hair is short right now. Dye is easy. Also, I think girl-munchkin has my same eye color.
