Aquarium of the Americas

Zac and I woke up later than I wanted, but the alarm didn't go off. Even the kids were still asleep when we woke up! I fed the kids, took a shower and we headed to New Orleans to meet up with Jessie and Joey at the aquarium. There was a parakeet exibit, so we were able to feed the birds. It was so fun! The last time we were at the aquarium was so long ago. Jac was a toddler and Leah was a zygote.

After the aquarium, Jessie had to get to work, so Zac and I searched the gift shop for the plush crawfish Jac wanted, but had no luck. Leah picked out an alligator and we headed to the Riverwalk. We ate the best sushi and finally found a crawfish for Jac. We bought a few sweets and headed back to Sean's.

Enjoying Quiet

Being at Sean's makes me ache for a place of our own. It's been so relaxing and quiet. When Zac graduates, I'm going to see about getting us an apartment in Covington. I really like it here and it's so close to everything.

I'm hosting my first birthday party so I'm extremely nervous and weird about it. I know I'll be awkward, but it's also a little exciting.

Sean made hot dogs for lunch. The kids have been so good today. Jac helped me bring groceries up THREE flights of stairs! Leah has been communicating better without getting so mad. She's been very good about telling us what she wants to wear and eat. It's a nice change.

We're going to the aquarium tomorrow!

Louisiana Trip, Mother's Day 2011

Zac and I are in Louisiana for the weekend. Mawmaw had a crawfish boil for Mother's Day this afternoon. The kids played in the jump-around with Francesca.

Jac was upset that he couldn't keep one of the cooked crawfish as a pet, even though I explained to him that it wasn't alive and would "go bad" if we kept it. He carried it around in a napkin for a while, but started crying when he had to throw it away so we could leave. I promised him we would find him a plush one at the aquarium next time we go.

Francesca was trying to teach Leah some of her dance moves. Leah kept putting her hands on her butt and shaking her hips! It was too silly.

We bought a few snoballs from Clown's and headed back to Sean's.

Movies and Books

Zac and I took the kids to the movies to see Rio. I'm impressed with how well-behaved my kids are. Neither said a word for the whole duration. They just sat quietly! Zac's been considering getting a pet bird, now... He's nuts.

I finished my 8th Sookie Stackhouse book by Charlaine Harris and started on the 9th, Dead and Gone. It's so hard to put these books down!

Tattoo # 5

I finally got my Bride of Frankenstein tattoo started. I'm going to get her finished in May.

The tattoo isn't bothering me as much as the piercings. My arm just feels like pins and needles.

Louisiana

We're in Louisiana for the weekend and are staying with Jena and Quinn.

I got a pair of piercings this evening (chest region). Of all 14 piercings I've ever had, these were the most painful, so in the event one (or both) comes out, I'm never getting it done again. Zac bought me a strawberry daiquiri to help with the pain and when Quinn gets home, we're going to play Clue. But I'm going to help Zac get the kids in bed for the night and enjoy my alcohol.

Visiting

Meredith and Matt are visiting from Texas, so they invited Carlton, me, and our families to McDonald's so we could hang out together while the kids played. Here, we have Jac, Wes, Molly, Leah, Abbi, and Jordan.

This evening, Zac and I drove to Clinton to visit Katie while she's staying at her mother-in-law's house. It was so nice to visit. I snuggled Spencer and gave Katie a crochet headband thingy she asked for.

Micro-Post

I absolutely love running errands with these two. They chatter to each other about Mario Bros. or apples and even when I'm not focusing my attention on them completely, I enjoy their company. I'm blessed to have them and so glad they have a special sibling relationship.

Chef Jac

Little Dude wanted to help make macaroni and cheese for lunch. I was a bit nervous, but he was so careful. I'd love to get these kids involved with cooking and such while they're little. It's the most fun baking with them.

Sick

My Lulubean is sick with fever. We waited forever at the doctor and she's got a "version of the flu". Bleh.

School Year

I stopped by Jac's elementary school and picked up his registration form. I can't believe he's going to school! I'm so not ready for this yet.

Today, we played "Pirates". I drew him a map and gave him a paper towel roll to use as a telescope. He tucked his plastic sword in his pants and went through the house defeating imaginary dragons in the closets and giant squids in the bathrooms. His treasure was a shoe box filled with Mardi Gras beads.

Friend Visits

Katie and Garrett came to visit! Spencer is so much bigger than I remember. He can play with my big kids now. We hung out and took a walk around the block, but the Bradford pear trees are in their putrid stage and the smell made us hurry home, nauseated.

Pictures of the Kids

Yesterday, I convinced Zac to take some pictures of the kids for the spring. Toby kept trying to distract them, so the pictures didn't turn out quite like I expected.

Today, I took my own pictures of them. I think they turned out a little better.

Snow!

It's been snowing today! Well, just a little bit. It wouldn't stick last night, but today it looks like powdered sugar. The kids are totally smitten. Toby had to wear a sweater and refused to participate in the fun.

Puppy Playtime

Toby has been crying a lot during the night, so I'm tired today. I hope it won't take too long for him to get used to a routine. He's so playful, though. The kids are obsessed with him.

It's been so rainy today. The weatherman said there might be snow this weekend, but I'm not holding my breath. He's predicted snow a few times, but we only saw rain.
