New Orleans trip

Normally, when Zac and I visit New Orleans, we usually come just for the aquarium or the zoo. Our plan was to maybe go to one of those for Jac's and Leah's birthdays, but last minute decided to take the city bus tour instead. The ride was awesome, though the weather was unpredictable. We sat on the upper level up front so Elias could see everything. About 30 minutes into the ride, it started raining on us, so I had to open the umbrella and wait for other passengers to get off so we could move under the cover.

We started at the Central Business District right outside our hotel. We passed the Superdome and the WWII museum. Dad would've loved it. He always wanted to go. We passed through Magazine Street, the Garden District, and St. Charles Avenue and stopped at Mardi Gras World. We didn't get off the bus, though. It was hot and we were wet and getting sunburned, but didn't want to have to wait half an hour for the next bus. We rode by the Arts District and Harrah's Casino. The Fillmore was around the corner from the casino where we watched Garbage perform. We passed Jackson Square, the French Market and Esplanade, then Treme, and Basin St. Station where we went to Polar Express a few years ago. We drove down Canal Street and passed the Riverfront and Zac is considering we cancel our Tennessee plans and take a cruise instead. It's tempting.

We finished up the tour and headed back to the hotel to change clothes. Toby had thrown up on the carpet, then shit in the elevator on his way outside. Poor Zac, haha. We finished getting ready, then headed out to Waggaman to see Christina and Steve for Stevie's graduation party. Mawmaw and Marie were there as well as some other friends and family from Zac's side.

After leaving Christina's, Zac dropped Mom and me off at Electric Expressions for our tattoos. However, Mom backed out and decided not to get one "ever", so I was able to hang out with Jessie and get my tattoo for Emily. I was going to get a tulip and maybe a song lyric, but recently decided I'd rather a sugar skull. She loved skulls and had a few tattoos of them herself, so it was all I could think of. Jessie whipped up a beautiful skull and put the color on and it was perfect.

Sunday, we went to Marie's for a Mother's Day crawfish boil and Frank let us go out in the boat on Lake Ponchartrain. It was a lot of fun. Leah was a little scared at how fast we went, but admitted she liked it. Elias couldn't go fast enough, he kept yelling "Again! Again!" His hair was crazy. It was their first time in a real boat. Jac was about two when he rode in one. We're hoping to go again next time we visit. We stopped for snoballs on our way home. Elias slept the whole way while Cole serenaded us off and on with his screaming.
