Dress Up

Jena picked me up and we went to David's Bridal so I could try on bridesmaid dresses. I found out I'm a size four when I've been thinking I'm a size ten. Talk about a self-esteem rocket blast to the moon!

I decided to get Leah's ears pierced while we were near the mall. The whole process took forever. Leah screamed when the piercer marked her ears, but barely peeped when she got the actual piercing. I ended up nursing her to keep her quiet, which worked out for both of us.

A Good Day

We went to hang out with Mawmaw this afternoon after stuffing our faces with sushi at China Buffet. It's been such an awesome day! The kids slept late, Jac ate all of his food without making a mess, Leah slept the whole time we were at the restaurant, and neither have been fussy. I like days like this.

Jena's Bridal Shower

I got my new work shirt. I also attempted to memorize the detox info and "what not to say" ballyhoo. Fun stuff.

After work, I picked up Leah and went to Jena's surprise bridal shower at Quinn's parents' house, just us girls.

After a lot of the guests left, Zac brought Jac to hang out for a little while. We mainly watched home movies of Quinn as a little kid in Disney World.

Ra Shop

I got a job after maybe two years of being a stay-at-home-mom. It's not terrible, I'm just Awkward Amy. I need to get familiar with tobacco products and get a license to sell them. I also need to get used to being away from my baby because my milkshake is bringin' all the boys to the yard.

Mom's Night Out

Zac's friend, Kacy, invited me to a mommy's-night-out down the street from Marie's house. I gave Big Bro a haircut and headed out. Zac kept Leah and I walked down the street to Kacy's with Jac so he could play with Alyssa's son, Logan, and Kacy's son, Zachary. Kacy cooked lasagna and we drank wine while the boys played and got so, so dirty.

brownies and snuggles

Zac and I have been a couple for five years today! It's insane... How has it been that long already? We celebrated with a batch of minty brownies and snuggle time with a pair of miniature weirdos.

Ms Trip

Zac and I are at my parents'. We arrived yesterday after a rough afternoon. So much baby drama from such a tiny lady.

Emily and Alex came to hang out with us Saturday. We went to eat at Fernando's while Mom watched the kids. I think Fernando's is the only thing I miss about living in Mississippi...

Zac and I went to the mall for some shopping since there's a tax-free sale this weekend. I finally found an Edward Scissorhands shirt. We're going home tomorrow. These trips always feel too short.

Alina's Birthday

It's Alina's first birthday! It was nice to see everyone and pass Leah around. Jac was well-behaved and I was able to eat without being asked "Ca'v some, Mama?"

Visits with Family

The kids have been reaching milestones. Jac grew a few extra muscles and Leah is starting to crawl.

Zac and I met up with Christina and Danielle at Chuck E. Cheese. Jac won a ton of tickets, so he brought home a ton of plastic snakes.

Danielle had to leave after dinner, so Christina, Steve, and their kiddos came to hang out and play with the Wii.

The Strangest of the Strange

I had a flier on my door about an apartment "get-together" so neighbors could meet-and-greet, being a new apartment and all. I fed the kids, got them dressed and went to the lobby.

It was awkward. I felt like a minority and the subject matter of racism didn't help. I won't be going to any more of these "meetings."

Playground

I finally took the kids to the park. I've been postponing it due to the heat. It was too hot to stay long, according to Leah. She was basically pissed the whole time and will probably forever despise playgrounds now. Jac was supposed to take a nap when we got home, but he wouldn't sleep. Jena called so we went to Pearl River to pick her and drive by the house I grew up in. We made it back to the apartment not long before Zac got home and Quinn brought pizza. After the kids were in bed and a few games of Clue, the  friends left and our apartment is quiet.

73

My parents came to visit and brought me some furniture from Meredith. We also celebrated an early birthday for Dad since we won't be seeing him on the actual day. We ate at China Buffet and I made strawberry shortcake (his favorite). Jac said, "Happy bertday, Gan-gaddy" and drew a card with swirls, a tree, himself with Granddaddy, and a balloon tied to the tree so it "won't fly away". I hope Leah can get to know Dad like Jac has.

Babies

These two have been so good today. I'm completely smitten.

Independence Day 2009

Quinn's parents invited us over for fireworks and burgers. Jena and I drank most of the Sheridan's (no regrets!). Leah slept most of the time and Jac probably sneaked ate about five cupcakes. He had a blast, though. He ran through the sprinkler and chased Jena around. Quinn and Zac lit a bunch of fireworks while Jena and I watched and kept Jac out of danger. It was so much fun.
