Crochet

I made a shawl. Michaels had this yarn on sale so I bought about 5 skeins and found a pattern. I'm super proud of it.

Carpet

We currently have three pets. Toby is the only one who goes outside regularly and the only one (I'm assuming) who brings in the occasional flea. The cats lay on his bed so I'm sure they're picking up a few fleas. However, the amount of fleas in the kids rooms has been increasing even after treatment. I had enough, bought some tools, and ripped the carpets out of their bedrooms. We're planning to buy some click-lock tiles in the future. For now, I'm going to price some rugs and get their rooms comfortable until they have new floors.

2nd Dose

The big kids had their second Covid vaccine last night. Today, they've been running low fevers but have slept pretty good. Leah's feeling better this evening, but Jac is still up and down, mostly tired. I'm so proud of them. Elias keeps asking when he can get his, but from what I've read, it won't be until winter.

Haircuts

My youngest baby had his real first haircut. He's been complaining and itching his neck since those sweet little curls are long. I decided to go for it and he sat so still. He looks so precious. I went ahead and got Elias's done, too. Yet another last-first.

Jewelry

I made a bracelet. I'm not great at making jewelry and I tend to feel tempted to buy it when I see it, especially if it's cute or symbolizes something like motherhood. So, I made my own.

Bubbles & Chalk

It's been a super lazy weekend. The weather has been off and on raining, so mosquitos are abundant. However, today they were scarce, so we went for a walk then hung outside. I bought some sidewalk chalk recently, so we drew some pictures and blew bubbles.

Independence Day 2021

Mom hosted her first gathering since moving into her new house. Meredith and her fam were in town from Texas, Carlton and his fam came by, and Granny, Jennifer, and Jason came. It was nice seeing everyone. All the kids are getting so grown. Jac and Leah went with the older cousins to try to rent a golf kart, but the club manager wouldn't allow it. The kids came back and watched Stranger Things instead. It felt like a holiday, like when I was a kid. It's strange to be one of the adults sometimes when it feels like not that long ago, I was the kid playing with the cousins. I had to bring my own food since I'm on a restricted diet. TBH, I wasn't disappointed. Most everything was super rich and looked good, but I didn't want to suffer.

After we left Mom's, we went home so I could get another container together, change Cole's diaper, and let Toby out, then we headed to Ashley and Mike's new house to have dinner. The kiddos played together and we sat outside watching the neighbors play with sparklers and bottle rockets. Ashley's yard is bigger than ours and she's got so many plans for her garden. It makes me want to start mine up, but I feel like I'm not going to have the right time management to balance that with everything else. It's still a possibility, though.

Walk

We took a walk this evening since it wasn't raining. So many tiny frogs everywhere! Favorite moment: Leah was struggling with her skates so Elias let her hold on to him so he could pull her. So precious. I found a few neat feathers. I'm not sure if the spotty one is from a hawk or owl, but it was pretty compared to the duck feather.

Rain, rain, rain

It's been unpredictably rainy for a while. Off and on, random, even with sunshine. We decided to go for a walk this evening and it just started raining. Luckily, we had umbrellas, but still got wet. So far, the big two are feeling normal after their vaccines. Leah never showed any symptoms, but Jac had a low fever and some muscle aches for about an hour or so. I can't wait to start planning trips with the kids again. Big trips! And staying in hotels again.
